John M. Nations joined Evans & Dixon as a Member and Practice Chair in the firm's Business Services Group. Nations has extensive experience counseling clients on issues ranging from transportation, economic incentives, land use, and management, to business matters and expansions, succession and estate planning, logistics, infrastructure, and public-private partnerships.  During his career, Nations has negotiated opportunities with a range of public officials including Presidential Cabinet Secretaries, federal agency leaders, Governors, state agency leaders, county leaders, municipal officials, and special district leaders. Nations has been named to The Best Lawyers In America® and received recognition from his peers in the legal community with the Martindale Hubbel “av” rating, for the highest levels of abilities and ethics.

Prior to joining the firm, Nations served three terms as Mayor of Chesterfield.  During his decade of service in the Mayor’s office, the city of Chesterfield achieved unprecedented growth in its business sector.  Later in 2010, he was recruited to be the President  & CEO of Bi-State Development, an interstate compact agency chartered by the U.S. Congress whose business operations included the Gateway Arch, St. Louis Downtown Airport, Metro Public Transportation, and excursion boats on the Mississippi River.  Nations lead this organization for 8 years and was the longest serving President and CEO in Bi-State Development history.

Nations has served, and continues to serve, on many regional boards and commissions and has been recognized with commendations from the Missouri Senate, Missouri House of Representatives, the St. Louis County Council, St. Louis County Executive, St. Louis Board of Aldermen, Mayor of St. Louis, as well as business and civic groups ranging from the St. Louis Major Case Squad and the Municipal League of St.Louis to Little League Baseball, and has repeatedly been recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential St. Louisans.
